Eugene (Gene) E. Adams, age 89 passed away peacefully Tues, June 24, 2025. Gene was born Jan 9, 1936 in Medford, WI to Earl & Lillian (Reimer) Adams. When he was around 5 yrs old, they moved to Waupaca & Gene lived the rest of his life in the Waupaca area. He graduated from Waupaca High School & learned his lifelong love of woodworking, carpentry & home construction. Gene also enjoyed archery & hunting. He met his future wife, Betty (Berto) in an archery competition in Waupaca. They became members of the King Archer’s Archery Club. Gene & Betty were married on December 5, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst, WI. He was a member of the Army National Guard & received the Berlin Crisis Ribbon.
Gene & Betty raised their 2 daughters, Cindy & DeAnn (Dee) for many years on a farmette in King, WI where they raised pigs, chickens & rabbits. They also had a huge vegetable garden, along with corn & cucumber fields.
Gene supported his family with his carpentry skills & while he worked for different builders, the King Veterans Home & the Waupaca School District, he also had many side jobs as people heard of his quality of work by word of mouth & wanted him for their home projects. He never had a shortage of work.
Gene is survived by his daughters Cindy (Kurt) Schoenwetter of Mount Horeb & Dee (Jerry) Gaska of Columbus; grandchildren Jenny (Bill) Paulson, Jason (Esther) Gaska, Jessie Gaska (fiancé Max Flaig) & Adam Schoenwetter; great granddaughters Miriam, Selah & Naomi Gaska; sister Bette Adams of Waupaca. Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, his parents, and many other relatives & friends.
A Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the memorial Service at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca. Reverend Andy Behrendt will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rural Cemetery in the Town of Dayton. Memorials are appreciated in Gene’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
