Amherst cruises past Brillion with balanced offense

Posted

The Amherst Falcons (10-1) made short work of the Brillion Lions (8-3) on Oct. 31 in Level 2 of the playoffs.

It took less than three minutes for the Falcons to find the end zone as quarterback Michael Glodowski connected with Sully Perkins on a 26-yard touchdown pass to make the score 6-0.

Shortly after, Glodowski put Amherst up 13-0 with a three-yard touchdown run to give his team the two-score lead.

Building on their momentum, Ayden Nerdahl took a handoff 33 yards for a score, and made it a 20-0 lead.

A takeaway by the Amherst gave their offense the ball back. Nerdahl weaved his way through the defense for an 8-yard touchdown run to give him his 33rd touchdown of the season, giving Amherst a 27-0 lead.

Glodowski found Perkins for a 47-yard touchdown pass, making the score 33-0.
“I give all the credit to Mike (Glodowski), he threw up a good ball, he hit me in stride, and credit goes to the o-line giving him all the time to throw,” Perkins said of his playmaking downfield.

Nerdahl’s third touchdown of the game, a 56-yard run, put the Falcons ahead 40-0.

Brillion scored two unanswered touchdowns late in the game to make the final score 40-13.

Michael Glodowski finished with 151 passing yards, two touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown. Ayden Nerdahl rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns, and Sully Perkins caught five passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Amherst will travel to the playoffs for the first time to take on undefeated Mayville on Nov. 11.
