Amherst soccer dominates first half against Nekoosa

AMHERST- On Sept. 1, the Amherst Falcons took on a visiting Nekoosa in an early-season boys soccer matchup.

In the opening minute, the Falcons took the lead with a shot from the side of the net by Xavier Farrey, giving Amherst a 1-0 lead.

“I saw a lot of open space, and I said I got to try it.” Farrey said of his opening goal, “The first ten minutes or so, I’m trying to figure out how good the players are, if I can beat them or not, and it worked that time.”

Everet Elizalde made it 2-0 with a kick at the face of the net to extend the lead for Amherst at the 28:33 mark.

The second goal of the night by Farrey made the score 3-0 at 34:30 in the match as he scored after a corner kick.

Oliver Snyder kicked a goal into the net at 36:25 to make the score 4-0 on a breakaway in the first half.

Carter Ebben scored at 41:34 as he scored on a kick that careened into the net on a kick-off by the goalkeeper to make the score 5-0.

At 58:09, Will Wiesman headed it home to make it 6-0, the final score of the match.
