NEW LONDON – At the recommendation of the New London School District’s Capital Projects, Energy Conservation and Facilities Committee, the New London School Board approved another phase of flooring replacement at New London High School at a total cost of $36,154.
The approval came at its March 11 meeting. The project will be completed by H.J. Martin and Son, Inc. The areas of the high school where floors will be replaced include B119 and the band room main area.
Joe Marquardt, SDNL business services director, told the board that the third phase of the flooring project at New London High School was discussed at the December facilities meeting.
“We still have more flooring work to do each year, for the next couple years, but this is still accomplishing your phasing goals,” Marquardt said.
According to the Topic Summary Sheet (TSS) about the flooring project, “the flooring project was designed by Somerville and sent out for bids in 2024. Phasing of the project was necessary for budgetary purposes and this is a planned expense for 2026.”
It was also noted in the TSS that “the pricing structure only changes with material inflationary increases to the project bids from last year.”
The projected completion timeline for the B119 area would be over spring break and the band room would be in June.
