Posted

WAUPACA – The Wisconsin Department of Tourism released 2025 economic impact data showing tourism connected to the Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes area helped generate $180 million in total economic impact across the region.
Visitor activity in the Waupaca area supported 1,182 jobs and generated more than $11.1 million in state and local taxes, reinforcing tourism’s role as a key economic driver for the community.
“Tourism in the Chain O’ Lakes area continues to grow because of the people and businesses that make this community special,” said Jeff Anderson, President & CEO of the Waupaca Area Chamber & Visitor Bureau. “We’re seeing local businesses invest in new experiences and that growth benefits everyone, from residents and entrepreneurs to the visitors who choose Waupaca year after year.”
That growth is easy to see throughout the area. Downtown Waupaca’s Main Street is nearly fully occupied with several new businesses opening recently, adding to the diverse mix of locally owned businesses. And around the Chain O’ Lakes, additional new and expanded businesses continue to increase amenities and options for visitors.
“These investments create the kind of authentic, high-quality experiences that today’s travelers are looking for,” Anderson added. “When our business community grows, tourism grows with it.”
