NEW LONDON – In early October the New London School District was notified that it was being awarded a Digital Mapping of School Buildings grant.
New London Superintendent Scott Bleck informed the New London Board of Education about the grant funds when it met Oct. 8.
Bleck told the board that this grant application was submitted during the summer in support of the grant writer the district shares with the city of New London and the New London Chamber of Commerce.
The district received grant funds in the amount of $6,490, with an additional supplemental award of $34,800 to invest in digital mapping for all of the district’s buildings.
“Our SRO (School Resource Officer) and somebody from Waupaca County was excited to hear that we’re one of the few districts that will have digital mapping capabilities within our schools and buildings,” Bleck said.
He added, “The investment we made with partnering (with the city of New London and the New London Chamber of Commerce) and that has paid for itself, if you will, just from that standpoint.”
