Another round of football conference realignment moved Colby from the Marawood to the Central Wisconsin-Large this season.

The Hornets’ first CWC-Large win will have to wait, however, as Amherst handed them a 41-20 loss Sept. 6.

Three unanswered touchdowns for Amherst in the third quarter added to the Falcons’ 19-6 halftime lead.

Michael Glodowski capped the Falcons’ opening drive with a 34-yard quarterback keeper and his 23-yard pass to Dylan Cook gave the home team a 13-0 lead in the second quarter.

The Hornets answered on their next drive with a 75-yard run from Gavin Voss, but Colby didn’t score again until running clock began in the fourth quarter.

Amherst added to its lead before halftime on Glodowski’s 77-yard pass to Sully Perkins.

Cook scored on a 65-yard run on the Falcons’ first play of the second half and Ayden Nerdahl added scoring runs of 1 and 9 yards later in the third quarter to give Amherst a 41-6 lead.

Colby’s final two scores came on Smith’s 24-yard pass to Hayden Kaiser and a 16-yard run from Brody Viegut.
