Farmers Market accepts SNAP cards

Posted

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Farmers Market is making healthy eating more accessible through the use of SNAP/EBT cards.
Those with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) cards can swipe theirs cards at the Farmers Market Manager Booth and receive tokens to spend with vendors. The Stevens Point Farmers Market also offers a matching program, where SNAP customers can receive a dollar for dollar match on up to $20 worth of fruits and vegetables each week.
“These programs are super helpful to customers and market vendors alike, and we are so grateful for all of the work that goes on behind the scenes to make it possible,” says Meliss Haack, Regional Farmers Market Coordinator. “The market is a great place to purchase healthy food options, see your community, and shop at neighboring local businesses.”
The Stevens Point Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to noon through the end of Oct. Located in the Mitchell Public Square in downtown Point, the farmers market is the longest-running in the State of Wisconsin with over 175 years of operation.
The Stevens Point Farmers market will be celebrating National Farmers Market Week from Aug. 2-8.
