• Aug. 14 – Officers responded to a call regarding two windows being broken at an older industrial building on Wood Street.
• Aug. 14 – A 24-year-old man was arrested on a probation violation at the Kwik Trip on Church Street.
• Aug. 14 – A 43-year-old man reported four males rang his doorbell on Sequoia Court, left his residence, then returned and attempted to open his door multiple times. Dispatched received an additional call about similar behavior in the area. Officers located a large group of juveniles in the area who said they were ding-dong ditching but denied attempting to open any doors.
• Aug. 14 – A man wanted to report that a woman had been living in a vacant business on Church Street. Officers checked the doors of the vacant business and found them to be secure.
• Aug. 15 – A man and woman got into a verbal argument in a vehicle on Church Street. The man left the woman behind. The woman informed officers that the man stated he “wanted to kill himself over the argument.” Officers then spoke with the man who stated he only said that to get the woman to return. A welfare check was attempted on the man, but officers were unable to make contact with him after he stated he was going to hide from officers.
• Aug. 15 – A 47-year-old woman reported being the victim of a hit and run at Division Street and Academy Avenue. She stated she was in the crosswalk when a vehicle drove through a yellow light and struck her left side, causing a scrape and a sore leg. The driver briefly stopped before driving away. The woman described the driver as possibly being “an older lady with glasses.”
• Aug. 16 – A homeless man near the old Shopko was cited for loitering and warned for littering and public urination.
• Aug. 16 – A 50-year-old man reported his car on Williams Street had been gone through over the night. A few items had been taken.
• Aug. 16 – A 56-year-old man on First Street no longer wanted an 87-year-old man to live on his porch.
• Aug. 17 – A vehicle on Northpoint Drive had been gone through and items were stolen.
• Aug. 17 – Beer cans were found inside the Band Shell. Garbage, sleeping bags, a backpack, and beer cans were found on city property near Clark Street. All items were disposed of.
• Aug. 17 – A woman reported her scooter was stolen from her apartment yard on Prentice Street.
• Aug. 17 – Police investigated a tip indicating that a user on the messaging app Discord, who identified as a 31-year-old man, was interacting with a user who identified as a 14-year-old male. In their online conversations, the man solicited the 14-year-old for nude photos of himself. An investigation into the matter led to a finding of no evidence to support that the man was in possession of child sexual assault material.
• Aug. 17 – A woman reported her social security card had possibly been stolen by her ex-boyfriend. She stated she received a photo from an unknown number of her social security card. She stated the bed sheets in the background match the sheets her ex-boyfriend had. Additionally, she reported that her ex had been leaving harassing comments on her social media and her mom’s social media.
• Aug. 17 – A woman broke her ankle at Bukolt Park. EMS requested officers respond to the scene as her child ran off when they became scared. The child was found was found shortly after.
• Aug. 18 – A 19-year-old man was drinking in a city park and in possession of a stolen bike. The bike was the third bike he has stolen in the last month. He was trespassed from all city parks due to drinking, having garbage around, and possessing stolen property in the park. The man admitted to stealing the bike from an alley behind an Ellis Street address.
• Aug. 18 – A woman reported a younger white man had banged on her Pulaski Place door, attempting to gain access to the residence. The man allegedly stated “open the door you crazy (expletive) (expletive).” The man left in a newer model SUV.
• Aug. 19 – A 43-year-old woman at the Family Crisis Center was extremely emotional and paranoid that an unknown person was going to kidnap her and take her to Colorado.
• Aug. 19 – A father was attempting to give his son medications for his autism. The son did not want the medications and became upset, then smashed his father’s windshield with a brick.
• Aug. 20 – A man reported seeing a red truck entering a ditch near his West Gates Drive residence. He heard noise and saw that the truck was occupied by four people. After the truck left, he noticed the posted “Welcome to Stevens Point” sign was missing. Officers looked in the area and located what was left of the posts the sign was on.
• Aug. 20 – Officers observed a man riding an electric bike down Second Street. He failed to yield. A traffic stop was conducted after the man had crashed his bike. After further investigation, he was arrested for multiple offenses.
