Gary R. Zuehlke, age 82, of Fremont, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Green Bay.  He was born on April 7, 1944 in New London, WI, the son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Bachmann) Zuehlke.  In 1962, Gary graduated from Weyauwega High School and went on to attend Fox Valley Technical College where he earned his Associate Degree in Accounting.  He started his career working for PG Miron for a few months before he was hired by the New London School District.  Gary spent the next 45 years working as an accountant for the district before retiring in 2011.  After Gary's father passed away early in Gary's life, his uncles stepped in to help raise Gary with a strong work ethic. He was no stranger to hard work that included helping on the family farm and helping to develop Bachmann's Landing (which is now Gala Resort).  Gary was a lifelong member of Hope United Church of Christ where he served in many capacities including treasurer, deacon and elder, as well as many church offices.  He also served as a caretaker for his mother, as well as his aunt and sister.  Gary lived a very frugal life, but was very generous in giving to many charities throughout the country.  He especially enjoyed providing for his church and the Weymont Food Pantry. In earlier years, he could be seen walking the streets in Fremont and surrounding areas, collecting cans for recycling and donating his earnings from the tin.  Investing was Gary's hobby.

Gary is survived by two nephews, Doug (Lisa) Ziebarth, Fremont and Dennis (Karen) Zuehlke, Appleton; a niece, Susan  Zuehlke, Bullhead City, AZ; a great-niece, Stephanie (Jacob) Banner;  a great-nephew, Thomas Goss; great-great-niece, Kaitlyn Banner; and great-great-nephew, Elijah Banner.  He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Zuehlke,  and his sister, Ann(Fenton) Ziebarth.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am at Hope United Church of Christ, 8950 Alpine Rd., Fremont. Pastor Gene Ramsey will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established for Hope United Church of Christ and the Weymont Food Pantry
