Alice Margaret (Heerens) Hallstrom, 103, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 20, 1921 in Evanston, Illinois to Daniel Heerens and Mabel (Oberg) Heerens. She attended Evanston High School, Nursing school and Kendall College in Evanston. She married the late Arthur Hallstrom and settled first in Evanston, and then in Glenview, Illinois. With her friends, she actively participated in the Womens Clubs, PTA, and many other philanthropic organizationsthat made a positive impact to both communities. After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively all over the United States and spent time in their summer home in Lake Geneva. Upon the passing of her husband of 40 years, she moved to Deerfield, Illinois and enjoyed participating in family life again by joining daughter and granddaughters. She became a second parent in all but name, and with her wisdom and love, helped to create a vibrant multigenerational family. She continuously received the support, caring and devotion of her son, Scott and family throughout her life. When her daughter retired, they agreed to move one last time to Wisconsin where she loved the water, watching sunsets, and being a gathering spot for family get togethers and living next door to other son, Arthur and family. She will be remembered for her humor, compassion, empathy, honestyand positive determination.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Hallstrom. She was the cherished mother of Arthur D. (Janet S.) Hallstrom, Scott R. Hallstrom and Nancy A. Hallstrom. She was also the proud grandmother of Amy (Justin) Miller, Sarah Hallstrom, Michael (Emily) Hallstrom, Matthew Hallstrom, Eric Hallstrom, Kristen Hallstrom, and Anders (Beanie) Hallstrom; great grandmother of seven, and special friends. She will be forever near for she will live within our hearts forever.
A visitation will be held on Saturday July 5, 2025 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 12, 2025 at 12 p.m. at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home in Glenview, IL with a visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home.
