Hit and run in Town of Hull

TOWN OF HULL — A Town of Hull man has been taken into custody after striking a pedestrian with his vehicle.
On Aug. 6, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Portage County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of the 5500 block of Jordan RD, in the Town of Hull for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. The caller had advised a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and then left the scene. The victim sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local medical facility.
A short time later, Portage County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to identify and locate the suspect. 30-year-old Town of Hull resident, Samuel Milkey, was arrested and taken into custody.
Milkey is facing two felony charges for the crash, including injury by intoxicated use/vehicle and hit and run involving great bodily harm. On Aug. 7, Milkey appeared in Portage County Court by video for a bail hearing. The state requested a $150,000 cash bond, however the court ultimately set a cash bond of $75,000. Milkey posted his cash bond the same day. His bond conditions include no contact with the victim or their family, maintain absolute sobriety, not to possess or consume controlled substances without a valid prescription, take all prescribed medications as prescribed, and report to Portage County Justice Programs and comply with the requirements.
Investigators were initially unable to identify the victim, but with the community’s help the victim was able to be positively identified. In a press release, the victim was described as a white male in his twenties to thirties with longer blond hair and a thin beard. The victim was riding a Propel brand electric powered skateboard at the time of the crash. The victim was wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans, and a black ball cap with a green “Hidden Hills Club” patch.
Samuel Milkey is expected back in Portage County Court on Sept. 21.
