James Carter Lewis, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jim was born on January 11, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late John and Mildred (Furch)Lewis. He graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1960. On September 7, 1963, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Lewis, and together they built a family rooted in love, commitment, and countless cherished memories over more than six decades of marriage.

Jim and his wife, Kathleen owned and operated Hardwear Hank Hardware Store in Ripon for three years, and then Jim went on to work as a salesman for Culligan Water in Milwaukee and later in Waupaca before retiring.

A lifelong Milwaukee Brewers fan, Jim rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. He took tremendous pride in caring for his lawn, flowers, and plants, and found great enjoyment in feeding and watching the birds that visited his yard. Whether tending to his garden, enjoying a Brewers game, or spending time with family, Jim appreciated life's simple pleasures and found happiness in the things he loved most.

Above all else, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for his family was evident in everything he did. He will be remembered for his dedication to those he loved, his quiet strength, and the pride he took in creating a warm and welcoming home.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Lewis; his children, Steven (Dana) Lewis, Melissa (Andrew) Rogahn, and Amy (Matthew) Cummings.

He was a proud grandfather to Paige (Joel) Menk, Dylan Lewis, Olivia Lewis(Kendall Kruschek), Elle Lewis(Addison Rost), Matthew Brueggemann, Nicholas Brueggemann, Chloe (Michael) Lueptow and, Mateja Rogahn(Noah Skillings), Maecie Rogahn, Ty Cummings, Crew Cummings, and Britta Cummings.

Jim was also blessed with a great-grandson, Nolan Parish Menk, who brought him great joy.  He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Burdett and Sally (John) St Peter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, James Burdett

Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering. The memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared will remain with his family forever.

Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Per Jim's wishes no services will be held.

The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont is assisting the family with arrangements.
