Johnson, Dawn

Posted

Dawn C. Johnson, age 50 of the Township of Dupont, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton with her loving family by her side.

Dawn Carol Johnson was born February 5, 1975, in L’Anse, MI, daughter to Donald & Mary (Funke) Majurin. She attended Ontonagon High School where she played on the basketball team, later graduating with the class of 1993. Dawn later made her way to the Marion area, where she worked as a cook for many years at Steve & Mary’s Main Street Cafe. She was outgoing and could easily make friends wherever she went. After a car accident in 2009, she was able to stay home both to focus on her recovery, but also to look after her children as a stay at home mom. Not only was she a fantastic mother to her children, she also treated the neighborhood kids like her own, with them referring to her as “Momma J.” She never missed her children or grandchildren’s sporting events and was always their biggest cheerleader. Dawn loved the outdoors, especially in the U.P. She enjoyed collecting rocks on the beaches of Lake Superior, or anywhere really, and also loved fishing. While relaxing at home, she was usually found taking in the warmth of the sun while reading a good book. Dawn will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and fiance, who displayed selflessness to her family and friends.

Dawn is survived by her fiance of over 25 years, Damon Jacobsen
