WAUPACA – Stretches of road construction on U.S. 10 is nearing completion just as more construction funding has been approved at the state capital. The planned opening for the Churchill Street on/off ramps is Thursday, August 6. The eastbound off ramp for State Highway 22 is scheduled to close August 3 and reopen on Friday, August 14.
This week, Governor Evers signed a $3.6 million contract to improve U.S. 10 westbound, between Old WIS 49 and the Winnebago County Line in Fremont. Work is scheduled to begin on Aug. 10, 2026.
Vinton Construction Company is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will be replacing concrete in the travel lanes, repaving the asphalt shoulders, replacing guardrail, and re-striping US 10; updating the signals at the WIS 96 / WIS 110 intersection; and replacing concrete in the travel lanes, and repaving the asphalt shoulders along WIS 110 from the ramp terminals to the WIS 96 intersection.
During construction, US 10 will be open to traffic with lane closures throughout construction. Additionally, there will be intermittent ramp closures with redirection to the adjacent ramps.
Construction is scheduled for completion by Oct. 30, 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a public involvement meeting to receive input for a proposed project on the eastbound lanes of US 10 from Anderson Road to Apple Tree Lane in Waupaca County.
The meeting will be held at the Waupaca Public Library, Meeting Room A on Wednesday, Aug. 5, starting at 5 p.m. A brief presentation will be given at 5:15 pm. The remainder of the event will be an open house format with informational exhibits and opportunities to speak directly with project staff.

Construction is currently scheduled for 2030 but could be as early as 2029 if funding becomes available.
