Ikert honored for service

WAUPACA –John Erspamer has taken the position of interim principal during Principal Jenifer Erb’s absence and recovery. Erspamer retired as principal of the Waupaca Learning Center after working the school district for 29 years.
In a school newsletter, Erb’s two adult daughters provided an update on her recovery in a statement: “We are truly blown away by the family and friends that have rallied around us and helped keep our lives running. Mom has made remarkable, miraculous progress since her surgery and was recently extubated. She is not breathing with the assistance of a ventilator anymore. It was truly a gift to hear her say our names, something that a few weeks ago we didn’t think we would ever hear again. She has been moved out of the intensive care unit into another area of the hospital where she continues working with therapies and is improving every day; she still has a long road of rehabilitation ahead. Thank you again for everyone that has prayed, crossed their fingers, and sent good vibes to our mom.”
Get-well cards can be sent to the district office and should be marked for Principal Erb.
Cindy Ikert, the school’s athletic secretary, recently received the Wisconsin Athletic Service Award for two decades of outstanding service to students, staff and athletic programs.
For 20 years she has worked behind the scenes and supported coaches, athletes, families and fans with professionalism and heart.
