New traffic signals on Hoover Road

STEVENS POINT — On Sept. 29, new traffic signals were installed at the intersections of Industrial Park Road and Coye Drive, along Hoover Road. After several years of requests, the traffic signals were approved for several hundred thousand dollars of funding by the Common Council in Oct. 2024.
The signals are currently placed in flashing red mode, which creates a four-way stop at each intersection. This four-way stop is intended to give drivers time to become familiar with the new traffic signals. The intersection will remain in flashing red for one week and during this period the detection systems will be installed. Once the detection system is installed, the intersections will transition from flashing red to normal operation.
