Joyce E. Prahl, age 90 of Weyauwega, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. Joseph Residence, New London, WI.

Joyce was born on April 24, 1933, in Weyauwega to the late Odie and Gladys (Waite) Gilbertson, the youngest of five children. She was united in marriage to Merlyn Prahl on January 27, 1951.

She attended the Weyauwega schools. Her full-time job was a homemaker raising four children. She was known as an excellent cook. She also provided childcare for many families over the years and was affectionately known as Grandma Prahl by many children. She helped her late husband raising beef cattle on their 35-acre farm, as well as planting a large garden. Joyce also enjoyed dancing to classic polka and waltz music with Merlyn.
Joyce was a longtime member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church where she served on the Ladies Aid for many years. She was also a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Waupaca County Homemakers. She also was active in the church dart ball league and Senior Citizen Nutrition Program.

She is survived by her three sons: Terrence (Jean) Prahl of Madison, WI; Michael (Laurie) Prahl of Cornell, WI; Robert (Liane) Prahl of Fremont, WI; grandchildren: Jason (Nikki) Prahl and their children Ava and Brennan of Boyd, WI; Jeremy (Rebecca) Prahl and their children Isabelle and Nolan of Hudson, WI; Eric (Chantal Forthun) Prahl of Cloverdale, CA; Lili Prahl of Portland, OR; Garrett (Samantha) Prahl of Brooklyn Park, MN; Allison (David) Olson of Green Bay, WI.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Merlyn, her parents, daughter Kathleen; sisters, Janet Kriese and Elaine Hofacker; brothers, Duane and Nathan Gilbertson.

The Christian Funeral Service for Joyce will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, October 30, 2023, at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, Weyauwega, with Pastor Aaron Kristopeit officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9:30 am until 11:15 am. Burial/Committal will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega immediately following the service.
