WAUPACA – There will be a special premiere of the 50th anniversary reboot of “The Giant Spider Invasion” on Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosa Theater. There is new footage and special effects added to the original film and all of it was filmed in Wisconsin.
It stars Waupaca’s very own Dan Davies. “As a young kid, I originally saw the film in 1976 at the Rosa Theater and now I get to co-star in this film and see it at the same theatre and on the same screen almost exactly 50 years to the day,” he said.
“Never in the history of Hollywood has a film been directed again by its original director (film legend Bill Rebane) 50 years later. This film was a Top 50 Box Office of 1975/1976 and is the most watched Rifftrax and Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episode ever,” said JB Thompson, the executive producer.
The premiere will also have a meet-and-greet, autographed merchandise, posters and giveaways. Dan Davies will be there along with 89-year-old director Bill Rebane.
