Stevens Point football preview

Posted

2025 was an up-and-down year for the Stevens Point Panthers as they started the season 4-0 before facing the strength of their schedule and went 1-4 the rest of the way, finishing 5-4 and 3-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

The Panthers’ season has more optimism in 2026 with starting quarterback Trent Breitbach returning to lead the way.

Breitbach had a breakout season in his first year as a starter for SPASH, passing for 1,786 yards and 14 touchdowns, while rushing for 854 yards and 20 touchdowns. Considered one of the top quarterbacks in Wisconsin, Breitbach was a first-team All-Wisconsin Valley Conference selection and has received multiple college offers going into his senior year.

SPASH also returns tight end Logan Cisewski, who was a first-team all-conference selection in 2025 and will look to take a bigger role in the passing game this season.

Stevens Points leading wide receiver from last season, honorable mention selection Isaac Yang, returns after posting 40 receptions, 542 yards and five touchdowns.

On the offensive line, SPASH returns Peyton Karaliunas, who was an honorable mention in his junior season.

The SPASH offense loses first-team All-WVC offensive lineman Grady Aldrich, second-team members’ wide receiver Jonny Ananiadis and running back Tucker Phillips.

On defense, Stevens Point returns Tony Raczek at outside linebacker, who had 64 tackles, five tackles for loss, and a sack.

Honorable Mention defensive end Luke Eichenberg also returns, as does linebacker Henry Roth, who had 58 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery.

The defense does lose the production of first-team selections Ananiadis in the defensive backfield and inside linebacker Calvin Roth, as well as second-team inside linebacker Riley Trylick.
