Stevens Point Police Report

• June 12 – A 32-year-old woman requested her purse be returned to her from a 57-year-old woman. The older woman brought the younger woman her purse back, but the woman stated the older woman allegedly stole cigarettes and a weed pen from the purse. The younger woman had no way to prove the items were stolen. In the report, the officer noted that if a weed pen would have been present it would have been confiscated.
• June 12 – A woman went to the Stevens Point Police Department looking for her son. Officers informed her he was currently at the Wood County Jail.
• June 12 – Multiple break-ins were reported to have occurred at a RV on Arlington Place.
• June 12 – A man reported he was added to a group chat with people he knew as a teenager. When he scrolled through the groups messages prior to him being added, he discovered one group chat member stating he would beat the man up, “put him in a grave”, the man stated where he lived and correctly described the victim’s house, and had previously posted photos of guns and drugs to his Facebook profile.
• June 12 – A report of a female yelling for help led to the discovery of a 25-year-old man yelling loudly in a high pitch while playing a video game.
• June 12 – A child, around 12-year-old, flagged an officer down on Bush Street and Indiana Avenue. The child stated there were teenagers on bikes swearing and using racial slurs. The child asked the officer to talk to them about their behavior.
• June 12 – An 18-year-old man drove his vehicle over the grass between Dairy Queen and Taco Bell on Highway 10.
• June 13 – Officers pulled over a vehicle on Main Street by the La Quinta Inn for driving 80 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.
• June 13 – After receiving a complaint about a motorcycle driving down Water Street at 50 to 60 miles per hour, officers located the motorcycle in the area. At this time, the motorcyclist began to drive away from law enforcement and ran a red light. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the motorcycle, which ultimately fled. The pursuit was canceled shortly after it started. On June 14, the driver of the motorcycle was identified as a possible suspect in a theft from his mother. He allegedly stole $40 from his mother’s residence while she was away. Video evidence shows the suspect rummaging through dressers in the residence.
• June 14 – A physical fight occurred downtown, leading to one male who had blood covering his sweatshirt. The males involved in the fights were uncooperative and would not provide names or descriptions of other instigators.
• June 14 – Officers responded to Elk Street after callers reported a mother was attempting to drive drunk with her newborn child. Officers made contact with the woman, who stated she wasn’t going to drive. She was provided a ride to the police department where her mother ultimately picked her up.
• June 14 – A 70-year-old woman reported she was upset due to her neighbor parking a trailer in front of her house. Officers deemed nothing illegal was occurring.
• June 15 – Two windows at Country Inn and Suites on Division Street were damaged from rocks being thrown through them.
• June 16 – A woman was observed carrying a large Amazon box through the parking lot of the police department. The woman was known to have taken items before, leading officers to ask what was in the box. The box was full of garbage she had found on the street.
• June 16 – A man was arrested on Main Street for OWI 2nd Offense.
• June 17 – Officers helped a homeless man buy a bus ticket to a new community per his request.
• June 17 – An officer placed a boot on a vehicle due to $285 in unpaid parking tickets. The 61-year-old driver threatened to cut the boot off the vehicle and take it with him, claiming the Stevens Point Police Department is harassing him. He was advised if he cut the boot off he would most likely go to jail.
• June 17 – A woman found three syringes in her brother’s property. She believed the syringes to be drugs as he was recently arrested for drug possession. She turned the syringes into the police department.
• June 17 – After reported lewd behavior on a city bus, the suspect was trespassed from city busses.
• June 18 – Officers observed a person struggling to keep his motorcycle upright. The 34-year-old man was arrested for OWI and threats to a law enforcement officer.
