Stevens Point Police Report

• Aug. 7 – A 63-year-old man was trying to direct a moving van into a parking spot on Maria Drive when a 33-year-old man parked in the spot. The two entered into a verbal argument and were then separated by officers.
• Aug. 7 – An abandoned bicycle was found on the sidewalk on Third Street. The bicycle had been stolen from UWSP.
• Aug. 7 – A traffic stop on Church Street led to the arrest of a 44-year-old driver for OWI first offense.
• Aug. 8 – An alarm sounded off at BP on Church Street. Officers saw an open back door near the dumpsters, with a pair of headphones, a lighter, firecrackers, and an energy drink left near the open door. Officers cleared the store and saw nothing out of the ordinary.
• Aug. 8 – A man was having a seizure outside of the Congress Club. He had a laceration on his head from falling down. Upon law enforcement arrival, the man was conscious but confused about how he fell and hit his head. He was transported to the hospital.
• Aug. 8 – A 16-year-old female reported that her ex-boyfriend stole her weed. The officer took what was left of the stolen drug paraphernalia and gave the female citations.
• Aug. 9 – A heavily intoxicated 32-year-old man was found with vomit on himself outside of the Brick Hause on Second Street. Officers attempted to assist the man but he refused help.
• Aug. 9 – A man reported his neighbor had sent his girlfriend a threatening text about him because of a dash camera. The text was vague but implied harm. The man was advised to block the number and limit contact with the neighbor.
• Aug. 9 – Officers located a tent in the woods east of Dunham’s Sporting Goods. A 33-year-old man was living in the tent there as he works at the nearby McDonald’s. He packed up his things per officers instructions.
• Aug. 9 – Officers were blocking northbound and southbound lanes on Church Street due to the flooded underpass. One vehicle was stopped and the 78-year-old driver was issued a citation for failure to obey officer’s order due to driving around the squad car with lights on and proceeding to drive through the flooded underpass.
• Aug. 9 – Officers discovered four people loitering in the Band Shell. Three individuals were warned, and one was cited for loitering as he had been previously trespassed from parks.
• Aug. 9 – A 57-year-old woman was looking into cars and talking to herself in the parking lot of the Stevens Point Library. The woman had been drinking and was told if her behavior continues she would be arrested. The same woman was later reported to be at the Westside Mobil and was upset her car would not start. Officers advised her to keep it down, stop walking in the road, and to go sit in the park to sober up prior to driving. About forty minutes later, the woman appeared to be attempting to break into a West River Drive residence. She was then arrested.
• Aug. 9 – A woman stated that a man she had been romantically talking to had been acting strange after she asked him if he was sleeping other women. The man reportedly took the question harshly and began vaguely threatening her and those close to her.
• Aug. 9 – A 58-year-old woman, who did not have a car, was looking to get a free hotel room and food. She was told that was not going to happen.
• Aug. 10 – Three young males entered the carwash at R Store on Highway 10 and removed several panels which possibly caused damage. As a result, the car wash had to close until it could be inspected.
• Aug. 10 – Officers were dispatched to Sentry Insurance on Northpoint Drive to take a construction employee into custody on a probation warrant. The employee called in from work due to a problem with his vehicle and stated he would turn himself into jail that night.
• Aug. 10 – A 24-year-old man was cited for retail theft from Target.
• Aug. 10 – A woman reported seeing an 87-year-old man publically urinate in the lawn of the residence where he lives. Officers spoke with the man who denied doing so.
• Aug. 10 – Officers responded to Centerpoint Drive for a woman who was passed out while driving. Officers were able to get her vehicle in park and turn the engine off. Officers discovered the woman was diabetic and experiencing low blood sugar. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.
• Aug. 11 – A 57-year-old man reported his lottery tickets were stolen.
• Aug. 11 – A 36-year-old woman was given an incorrect order at Firehouse Subs and became upset with employees after they agreed to fix it. The woman began yelling at the staff. Staff members advised the woman that they would call the police if she did not calm down, which then led to the woman throwing a soda cup at an employee that hit her in the head.
• Aug. 12 – Officers assisted a homeless individual in obtaining a bus ticket to return to their hometown.
• Aug. 12 – A citizen reported a shirtless male was running in the lane of traffic on Division Street. Officers were unable to locate the male.
• Aug. 12 – A caller on Michigan Avenue was almost struck by a car, which led to the arrest of the caller and two males.
• Aug. 13 – A woman on a bike was stopped and arrested on Clark Street.
• Aug. 13 – A woman asked to report gang stalking and harassment.
• Aug. 13 – An officer was patrolling on Highway 10 when he observed a male riding on the hood of a moving vehicle in the Target parking lot. The officer spoke with the 16-year-old driver and the 18-year-old passenger about making good choices.
• Aug. 13 – A man was found to be intoxicated violating his bond conditions. He was given a preliminary breath test and taken to jail for bail jumping.
