Students rally for vets

Teachers get a pie to the face

Posted

MANAWA – The Little Wolf High School student council and the Manawa FFA are working together to run a fundraiser to help support the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
The collaboration is to support those who served the country so the organizations developed an incentive program to raise money.
For every $200 raised, a teacher at Little Wolf High School gets a pie in the face.
The first teacher to be pied will be Jeff Bortle when funds reach $200, then followed after that will be Casey Johnson, Mary Eck, Michelle Johnson, Lance Litchfield, Carey Celske, Michael Chula and Brad Johnson.
Along with the teachers, Manawa’s Chief of Police Jason Severson also volunteered to take a pie to the face, which is at the top of the fund raising goal, which means if students are able to raise $2,000 they will get to see Manawa’s police chief get pied.

All of the money raised will be used to purchase items on the King Veteran’s Home wish list.
The students will also be making Christmas cards to help spread holiday cheer.
Donations close on Nov. 25, and they can be brought into the Little Wolf High School office.
Checks can be made out to Little Wolf High School.
Any questions can be directed to the event coordinator, Abby Elmhorst at 920-538-4757 or abby.elmhorst@gmail.com.
Elmhorst developed the idea after attending the FFA Washington Leadership Conference and creating her Living to Serve plan.
