The spirit of volunteerism, kick-started

Posted

WAUPACA – Volunteer Waupaca Day of Service will be held on Saturday, May 16. “This event kicks off Volunteer Waupaca, an initiative that will grow volunteerism in our community and connect people with meaningful ways to serve,” said Chuck Reynolds.
Volunteers will check in at 8 a.m. at South Park (coffee and donuts provided courtesy of Bethany Home), then head out to complete service projects at sites across the community. Everyone is invited back to South Park at noon for a snack lunch and celebration. The first 150 adult volunteers to sign up and show up will get a free Volunteer Waupaca T-shirt.
Noon to 2 p.m. will be time for a special kids-and-families service project organized by The Waupaca Arts Hub; a performance and Flow Workshop by the Cloud Nine Fire Show; reading time and music with Simon from the Waupaca Public Library; and Face Painting by Ali.
“This is a wonderful team effort involving the Rotary Club of Waupaca, the city’s Parks & Recreation Department and the public library, the Waupaca Chamber & Visitor’s Bureau, the UW Extension Office of Waupaca County; and Volunteer Fox Cities, which manages the online platform for matching volunteers with service opportunities in our community,” said Reynolds
To stay informed about upcoming opportunities, follow the Volunteer Waupaca Facebook page. To learn more and sign up for one of the service project opportunities, go to: www.volunteerfoxcities.org/WaupacaService.
