Posted

If the Clintonville Truckers want to qualify for the upcoming WIAA state football playoffs, they have their work cut out for them.

With four games remaining in the regular season, the Truckers need to win all four to make the postseason.

Oconto Falls has cruised through its conference schedule so far this season and improved to 3-0 in league play and 5-0 on the season Sept. 20 with a 58-0 win on the Truckers’ home field.

The Truckers fell to 0-3 in conference play and 1-4 overall.

The Panthers scored five touchdowns and added a safety in the final minute of the first half to take a 37-0 lead at the break.

Wyatt Laughrin opened the scoring for Oconto Falls with a 17-yard run and Isaiah Radart added a 12-yard touchdown run that gave the Panthers a 14-0 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Panthers added to their lead in the second quarter on Isaac Bremer’s runs of 3 and 17 yards and Emerick Skarban’s 34-yard pass to Alex Krejcarek. The defense also sacked Clintonville quarterback Zach Johnson in the end zone to give the visitors a 37-0 lead.

A pair of interceptions in the second half led to two more touchdowns for the Panthers, as Nicole Woosencraft scored on a 1-yard run and Nathaniel White had a 5-yard pass to Aiden Cahak. Croix Gardebrecht wrapped up the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 15-yard run.

Despite outgaining the Truckers 284-14 on the ground, the Panthers did not have a 100-yard rusher. Bremer and Laughrin led Oconto Falls with 65 yards each.

Skarban also completed eight of nine passes for 127 yards, while Jackson completed seven of 14 for 76 yards. Sam Wegener had four catches for 73 yards.

Clintonville will head to Eagle River Friday,  Sept. 27, to face Northland Pines. Oconto Falls will host another 5-0 Northwoods team, Coleman, in a game that will likely decide the conference championship.
