Hortonville’s Cash Botting looks for third trip to state

Posted

Coming into the season fourth in the Wisconsin state Division 1 wrestling rankings, Hortonville has hopes of being in the WIAA state championships in March. Senior Cash Botting is expected to be a catalyst for a successful season.

Botting finished sixth in his sophomore season and third in his junior season at state.

Having been in wrestling since his early days of school, Cash became more immersed when he saw his potential: “Wrestling was never my favorite sport until about 8th grade when I realized how good I could become.”

“My favorite part about wrestling is the bonds and life lessons made, which has caused me to stick with it for as long as I did due to the fact that almost every one of my friends are wrestlers,” says Botting.

Cash, on staying poised during his matches, “ I think my biggest asset is being able to stay composed during my matches, it allows me to stay relaxed and wrestle free no matter what the situation is.”

“ It feels great to see my growth as a person, the most because my character continues to grow as I mature,” Botting says of his personal growth during his career.

Even though he’s no longer at the school, he still gives a shoutout to his former coach, “ Brad Johnson, as even when I transferred away from him my sophomore year, he has always been in my corner and giving me helpful advice whenever needed.”

Botting on his most memorable experiences, “I just love being able to grow closer as a team every day and allowing myself to become a better person.”
