Waupaca defeats Shawano in comeback victory

Waupaca won their second game of the season in a comeback victory over the Shawano Hawks on Thur, Oct. 9, at home.

Shawano scored in the opening minutes as they went down the field and scored with a 14-yard touchdown run by Marcus Brezgel to make the score 7-0.

A swing pass to running back Elijah Senft went 75 yards to the end zone to make the score 13-0.

A deep pass to Westin Lauritzen set up a short-yardage touchdown by quarterback Austin Adamczak from three yards out to make the deficit.

A goal-line quarterback sneak by Aiden Rasmussen from a yard out gave Shawano a 21-7 lead with 10 seconds left after a successful two-point conversion.

In the third quarter, Waupaca scored after taking the ball down to the Shawano one-yard line, and an Adamczak quarterback keeper made the deficit 21-14.

The Comets tied the score in the fourth quarter as Adamczak once again found the end zone, with a 17-yard scamper, making the score 21-21.

Wyatt Buenning scored for the Comets with a seven-yard touchdown that broke the tie and put the score at 28-21.

Adamczak scored his fourth touchdown of the game to make the final score 34-21.
