The Waupaca Comets put together a complete performance from start to finish, rolling to a convincing 6–0 shutout over the Cedarburg Bulldogs in a commanding nonconference matchup.
Goaltender Carson Jameson was a wall for the Comets stopping 14 shots as he blanked the Bulldogs, and earned his sixth victory, and third shutout of the season.
Waupaca wasted no time setting the tone, striking just 2:38 into the first period when assistant captain Thomas Thiel finished a play set up by captain Nate Hines, and Blake Jones. The early goal sparked a flurry of offense, as the Comets controlled possession and pace throughout the opening frame.
Just over five minutes later, Colin Lockwood doubled the lead with an even-strength goal, capitalizing on a feed from Emmerich Trzebiatowski and Thiel. Lockwood wasn’t done yet — at 10:24, he buried his second goal of the night, this time assisted by Hines and Thiel, giving Waupaca a commanding 3–0 advantage.
The Comets closed out a dominant first period at 16:43, when Hines found the back of the net to make it 4–0 heading into the intermission.
Waupaca carried its momentum into the second period and made Cedarburg pay on the power play. At 4:33, Danny Cichy netted a power-play goal with assists from Trzebiatowski and Reed Rogers, extending the lead to five.
The Bulldogs struggled to regain their footing as penalties mounted, while the Comets remained disciplined and opportunistic. Waupaca’s defense and goaltending continued to shut down Cedarburg’s chances, preserving the shutout deep into the third period.
Cichy capped off the scoring at 11:29 of the third, scoring his second goal of the game at even strength with an assist from Rogers, sealing the 6–0 final.
