New London Public Museum teams up with New London Irish

The New London Public Museum, teamed up with the New London Irish baseball team to host Museum Day at the Stadium on Sunday, July 14.

Sponsored by the Lynn Tank Agency, activities started at noon with free hot dogs provided by Tyson Foods, family activities and museum displays.

The stars of the event were our New London Irish baseball team. They knocked off the first-place Scandinavia Vikings in South Central BABA competition with a 7-6 victory.

The Irish took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh, after numerous ties and lead changes.

The Irish were led by their starting pitcher, Noah Hanson, who threw a complete game in the brutal heat and humidity.

Top hitters for the Irish were Evan Muskevitch, who went 3 for 5 with a walk and scored four times. Noah Hanson went 4 for 5 with two doubles. Andrew Parker was 2 for 4 with a walk and two doubles.

The win puts the Irish into sole ownership of second place in the South Central Division, with a record of 7-3. The Vikings fall to 8-2. Both of their losses coming at the hands of the Irish.

There are only a few games left in the regular season before the divisional rounds of the playoffs begin on Sunday, Aug. 11.
