Divers locate body in Wolf River

22-year-old man falls from New London bridge

New London police reported receiving a call shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, that a man fell of the Pearl Street bridge and into the Wolf River.

Friends of the 22-year-old Sheboygan man witnessed the fall. They went into the water and tried to locate him, but were unsuccessful.

New London police and fire personnel, Waupaca County and Outagamie County sheriff’s deputies. and the Waupaca County Dive Team were dispatched to the area. A drone was also used in the search.

Later in the morning, the Brown County Dive Team arrived on scene with its sonar equipment to help search for the man.

At approximately 10:55 a.m. Saturday, the Waupaca County Dive Team located the body in the Wolf River, not far from where he fell into the water.

Authorities have released no further information until after they notify family of the deceased.
