Buchholz’s first husband, Elroy Olson, who served in the United States Army, was killed on Nov. 14, 1944, during World War II, and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Katelynn Volz was among this year’s Weyauwega-Fremont High School graduates taking the opportunity to be a bit creative for the commencement ceremony. Volz came up with this idea for the top of her cap and said the number “13” also happens to be her favorite number.

The Iola-Scandinavia girls’ 3,200-meter relay team of Leighten Fischer, Shelby Trzebiatowski, Brynn Rasmussen and Erika Kisting are all smiles after taking first place with a time of 10:04.52 at a Division 3 sectional meet in Rosholt May 29 and qualifying for state.

Leighten Fischer hands off the baton to Iola-Scandinavia teammate Shelby Trzebiatowski in the girls’ 3,200-meter relay. Fischer, Trzbiatowski, Brynn Rasmussen and Erika Kisting finished first in 10:15.97.
Manawa’s Autumn Ferg throws the shot put 33 feet, 1 1/2 inches May 26 at a Division 3 regional at Newman Catholic in Wausau. She qualified for the Rosholt Sectional by placing fifth.
