Amherst routes Lancaster in playoff opener

The Falcons of Amherst hosted Lancaster on Oct.23, in the opening week of the WIAA playoffs.

Sully Perkins put points on the board for Amherst in the first quarter as he took a reverse 59 yards to the end zone and put the Falcons up 7-0.

Ayden Nerdahl scored on a 15-yard touchdown run as he broke several tackles on his way to pay dirt.

Lancaster scored their first points in the second quarter, as quarterback Toay Rogatz scored on a six-yard quarterback keeper to make the deficit 14-7.

Nerdahl scored his second rushing touchdown of the game, as he went 23 yards for the score.

The Falcons were successful on a two-point conversion with a fake extra-point attempt.

Amherst went up 29-7 after Nerdahl scored his third touchdown with a one-yard plunge across the goal line.

A 14-yard touchdown run by Nerdahl made the score 36-7, giving him his fourth touchdown of the game.

Lancaster scored their fourth touchdown of the game, as Rogartz found a receiver for a 10-yard touchdown pass and made the deficit 36-14.

Nerdahl had his second consecutive, five-rushing-touchdown game as he took a handoff 80 yards to the house to make the final score 43-14.

Amherst advances to the next round of the playoffs, where they will host Brillion on Oct. 31.
