The Amherst Falcons traveled to face the Shiocton Chiefs on May 11 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East game, hoping to stay in the race for the conference lead.
In the top of the first inning, Amherst got on the board as Sully Perkins singled on a pop fly to right field, driving in a run and putting Amherst up 1-0.
In the second inning, an RBI sacrifice fly to center field by Cash Cullen made the score 2-0. Jackson Lutz scored on an error, and Levi Cullen drove in a run on a single to give the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
Wyatt Beaudoin capped off the second inning with a single on a ground ball to center field to make the score 5-0.
Cash Cullen had his second RBI in the third inning on a line drive to left field that made the score 6-0.
Shiocton got on the board in the third inning with a line drive single, cutting Amherst’s lead to 6-1.
In the fourth inning, the Falcons started to pull away, as Beaudoin singled on a ground ball to bring Michael Glodowski in to score. Logan Hintz followed up with a two-run single to make it a 9-1 ball game.
A bases-loaded walk brought in another run, and Cash Cullen drove in his third run of the game on a sacrifice fly.
Shiocton scored their second run in the fifth inning to make the deficit 11-2, but Amherst closed the door in the sixth as Daniel Juarez and Glodowski had back-to-back RBI singles to make the final score 13-2 as the 10-run rule was administered before the beginning of the seventh inning.
