Posted

The SPASH Panthers took on Wausau West on the road Saturday, Sept. 27, as they lost their second straight game.

Quarterback Trent Breitbach gave SPASH an early 7-0 lead as he took a keeper 60 yards to the end zone.

Wausau West responded as quarterback Joe Graveen threw to an open Shea Jones for a seven-yard touchdown to make the score 7-7.

The play that made the difference in the game was an interception on a trick play that Wausau West’s Taeden Moua took 61 yards to the house and gave his team a 14-7 lead.

SPASH would even up the score as they drove down to the goal line and scored on a Breitbach run to make the score 14-14.

Wausau West took back the lead late in the third quarter as a direct snap to running back Miles Waldvogel gave his team a 21-14 lead.

Breitbach scored his third touchdown of the game as he ran into the end zone from nine yards out to tie the game 21-21 with 2:17.

It took 17 seconds for Wausau West to reply as Graveen found Jones running free down the sideline as they delivered an 80-yard throw-and-catch to put the score at 28-21 with two minutes left to play.

SPASH would drive down to their opponents 15 15-yard line, but could not tie the game as a last-ditch throw into the end zone on fourth down fell incomplete.
