HUDSON- Third-seeded SPASH Panthers faced the second-seeded Hudson Raiders in a volleyball sectional semifinal on Oct. 30 in Menominee, as SPASH looked to advance to state for the first time since 1986.
SPASH started the first set with a 13-5 run that was capped off by a kill from Nora Kruger.
The Panthers continued to build on their lead as Leah Awe blocked a shot to give SPASH a 22-14 lead, and closed out the opening set 25-16.
The second set was back-and-forth before SPASH took control and won the set 25-21 after Karli Torhorst delivered a spike for the kill to give the Panthers the win and put them up two sets to zero.
In the third set, the Panthers were once again in a tight battle, but pulled out the 25-20 win in a sweep to face River Falls on Nov. 1 in the sectional finals.

In the opening set, River Falls took a 12-5 lead over SPASH, forcing the Panthers to come back. The Wildcats closed out the first set 25-19.
SPASH answered in the second set, winning the set 25-18 and tying up the match.
River Falls began to dominate in the third set, taking a 14-2 lead. The Wildcats downed the Panthers 25-16, taking a 2-1 set lead.
In the fourth set, SPASH took the 13-6 lead, and Nora Krueger would give the Panthers a 23-13 lead later in the set with a kill. An ace by SPASH finished the set, as they won 25-13 and forced a fifth and final set.
SPASH pulled away in the fifth set, and Maddie Harris delivered the match point to give the Panthers the win and a trip to the 2025 State Girls Volleyball Tournament, where they will face top-seeded Divine Savior Holy Angels on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Resch Center in Green Bay.
