Retired Command Sgt. Major Jeffrey Fletcher, at podium. was the keynote speaker during Memorial Day observances at the grounds of VFW Post 1037 in Waupaca. Fletcher enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1984 and participated in Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91. He enlisted with the Wisconsin Army National Guard in 1994 and was deployed to Iraq in 2006-07 and again in 2009-10. Fletcher retired from the Wisconsin Army National Guard in January 2011 with 27 years of military service.
